Sarsaon ka Saag, Mustard Leaves, taste good with Maki di Roti.




Ingredients:

Chopped Mustard Leaves 2 bunches

Chopped Onion 1 Large

Ginger Paste 1 Tbsp

Garlic Paste 1Tsp

Ghee/Oil 6Tbsp

Makai flour (Corn Flour) 1 tsp.

Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp.

Chopped Tomato 1 Large

Chili powder 1 tsp

Hing(Asafetida) Powder A pinch


Salt to taste


Directions:

  1. Heat Ghee (6 tbsp) in pan, add pinch of hing( Asafetida).
  2. Add Chopped Tomato, add red chili powder and add turmeric powder.
  3. Add Chopped Mustard Leaves and salt to taste.
  4. Cover half of the pan and cook the mustard leaves till tender. Stir this mixture every 5 minutes to make sure it does not stick to pan.
  5. Mash the leaves to get thick consistency. You may use a hand blender, but be careful don't make a thin paste.
  6. Take Makai Flour in a bowl and add 2 tbsp of water. Mix it well and make a fine paste.
  7. Add this paste to Saag.
  8. Stir the saag until it gets dry.
  9. In a separate pan heat 2 tablespoon of ghee.
  10. Add chopped onion cook till golden in color.
  11. Add ginger and garlic paste, cook for 2 minutes.
  12. Mix the cooked onion in saag. Your sarson ka saag is ready.


Serve with Makai Ki Roti or Plain Paratha.
